Faith and Values Organizations Form Coalition to Advance United Nations Decade for Inter-Religious Cooperation for Peace
Some forty-five religious, interfaith, and value-based organizations from five continents agreed to form a coalition to advance a "United Nations Decade for Inter-religious and Intercultural Dialogue, Understanding, and Cooperation for Peace." Coalition members expressed the hope that the UN Sixty-Fourth General Assembly, which will begin its deliberations in September 2009, will approve a resolution establishing such a decade from 2011-2020.

Ecumenical Advocacy Week 2008
United Nations Advocacy Week gathers members of the international ecumenical community together (1) to analyze the opportunities for ecumenical advocacy within the United Nations system from social, political and theological perspectives; (2) to discuss and deepen strategies for a common global strategic ecumenical advocacy impact; (3) to explore selected advocacy themes and issues; as well as to engage in direct advocacy with United Nations Member States.
The overarching framework for this year's United Nations Advocacy Week was “Human Rights at 60 Years;” this provided the context within which three focus areas were considered: Climate Change, the silent war in Sri Lanka and the priority advocacy theme is Migration. Teams have formed to plan the sessions related to each of these themes.
